Morocco car hire conditions:
Driving license and minimum age for Morocco car hire
Minimum age of drivers 22 yrs (Cat. A-D) with driving licence of minium 2 years.
Additional drivers
Cost for an additional driver (e.g. your travel partner) is included in the contract, which means you can take turns at the wheel. Most other car hire companies will charge an additional driver charge. All drivers must be listed on the rental contract.
ID
On handover of the car keys by our car hire company representative you are requested to present a passport valid for minimum 6 months, a valid driving licence and credit card (see payment and deposit).
Pick up / drop off costs
Many rental companies will charge you a pick-up or drop-off fee, which means you need to pay extra to drop off your car at a different location. We won’t charge you anything extra to say, have your car delivered in Fes, and drop it off a couple of days later in Agadir or Marrakech. Exception is Essaouira or Ouarzazate, as it requires a representative to come out there to pick up the car. For Essaouira the one-off cost is £50, for Ouarzazate £113.
Baby seat / Child seat
If you’re travelling with small children we strongly recommend renting a child seat. The rate for a baby seat (0-9 months) is approx. £3.50 per day, a child seat (9-24 months) is £4.20 per day. Please state clearly in your quote request form whether you’d like a child seat so we can book one for you in advance.
Rental period
Minimum rental period for Morocco car hire is 24 hours. It is not permitted to drive to bordering countries like Algeria for insurance reasons.
Payment and deposit
The price for car hire will be included in the total price for your tailor-made travel plan quote which will send to you by email. That means payment for your holiday will include payment for your car hire. As a form of deposit the car hire representative will make a blank credit card slip on delivery of your car. Cash deposit up front is not accepted.
Replacement
In the event of breakdown a replacement car will be arranged. This may be a different model than the initial hire category.
Maintenance
All cars are regularly checked and maintenance carried out where necessary.
Maximum speed
In Morocco they drive on the right. Maximum speed on the motorways is 100km, on secondary roads 80km and 50km in built-up areas. Watch your speed, not just because of the traffic laws, but also to avoid hitting the odd goat or wild animal running out into the road.
In case of emergency
The rental company has a 24-hour emergency number which you can call in the event of a (car) emergency. The number is listed in the rental agreement that you’ll receive on delivery of the car.
Advice
When you arrive in Morocco, avoid jumping straight into your hire car for a couple of hours’ drive to your next destination. It’s more comfortable and safer to spend a day acclimatising and relaxing after your flight. In Morocco the traffic is different than in the UK, and traffic laws may be different. It’s better to get into the car once you’ve had a rest got a feel of the place.
Subject to change
All information on rates, insurance rates and terms and conditions may be subject to change without prior notification, or altered due to local legislation. Detailed terms and conditions will be stated on your rental contract on receipt of your hire car.
